New York City Bar Association LRSUse the Lawyer Referral Service to find an experienced attorney in New York City. The attorneys that service on the panels of the LRS are carefully screened for their legal knowledge, experience, and ethics. Attorneys must be in good standing with the state bar and carry malpractice insurance.
When you call the service, you will talk with a trained staff person during a confidential intake process. The staff person will take down your information and ask you a few questions about your legal concern to help you determine the best type of attorney for your case.
The staff person can also take into consideration any geographical or language requirements. You can also fill out the referral request form on the website to receive the referral. When appropriate, the service will refer you to an experienced lawyer within the New York metropolitan area.
The LRS does not charge for the initial intake or the referral to the attorney. After you receive the referral, if you decide to contact the attorney for an initial consultation, the attorney will charge you $35 the 30 minute consultation. The fee is waived for a personal injury case, medical malpractice, state workers' compensation or a Social Security Disability claim.
During the consultation, you can talk to the attorney about the legal issues and the attorney fees required for additional representation.
