The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) of the Hartford County Bar Associations (HCBA) is a community based non-profit public service. The LRS helps individuals find an attorney throughout Hartford County, CT, including the cities of Hartford, New Britain, East Hartford, Bristol, and Manchester and West Hartford.
The service is designed for individuals and businesses that can afford to hire a private attorney. The service does not provide pro boon services to individuals who can not afford to hire a private attorney.
The attorneys that participate in the service are screened for their experience to serve on the different panels. The service also confirms that the attorney is in good standing with the Connecticut State Bar and free of pending disciplinary actions.

Hartford County Bar AssociationThe best time to call for an attorney referral is on Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The lawyer referral services are provided over the phone only.
When you call the service, you will be asked a few questions by a trained staff person to determine the type of legal issues involved. The interview is confidential. The service charges a fee of $25 for the referral which helps offset the costs of the services provided. The $25 fee is waived for workers' compensation cases, personal injury cases, and social security disability cases.
After the referral, you can schedule a 30 minute consultation with the attorney who can answer your questions and tell you about the attorney fees needed for additional services after the initial consultation.
