The Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) of the Santa Monica Bar Association (SMBA) is certified by the State Bar of California and meets the American Bar Association (ABA) standards.
The service receives more than 100 calls each month and the staff makes more than 30 referral each month to attorneys throughout Santa Monica, CA.
The service uses a rigorous screening process. The attorney must be an active member in good standing with the California State Bar. The service also screens the attorneys for their experience in a given practice area. Attorneys in the program must maintain professional liability insurance with coverage of not less than $100,000 per occurrence and $300,000 aggregate per year.
