The Santa Cruz County Bar Association sponsors a Lawyer Referral Service. This community based non-profit service has been helping the public find an attorney in Santa Cruz County since 1988. The service has certified by the State Bar of California.
If you call the service then the staff will talk with you over the phone to conduct a confidential intake. During that conversation, the staff will determine whether you need the service of an attorney and the type of legal issue involved in the case.
When appropriate, the service will then refer you to a qualified attorney for an administrative fee of $50. In exchange, the attorney will provide you with a 30 minute initial consultation to discuss your case. The service also provides an online form for your convenience.
The attorneys on the panel are pre-screened, in good standing with the California Bar and carry malpractice insurance. The Lawyer Referral Service also provides oversight and a follow up evaluation form to survey client satisfaction with the attorney.
