Association of Certified Family Law Specialists

The Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS) is a non-profit organization of lawyers who have been designated as a Certified Specialist in Family Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization ("CBLS").

ACFLS was formed in 1980, after the California Board of Legal Specialization certified the first group of Family Law Specialists.

ACFLS was originally called the Northern California Society of Certified Family Law Specialists. Today, the ACFLS has grown to more than 600 members with chapters for family law attorneys in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and a provisional chapter in Orange County.

ACFLS also maintains a database of its members who are all Certified Family Law Specialists in California.

Membership in the ACFLS has only one qualification for membership - applicants must be certified as a Family Law Specialist by the CBLS. After earning that certification, the california family law attorney may join ACFLS by simply paying the dues and submitting the application.
