The Asian American Criminal Trial Lawyers ("AACTLA") is an organization that advocates to improve the criminal justice system and protect the rights of the individual. The organization supports Asian American criminal defense attorneys in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Members also include legal professionals and law students dedicated to serving the Asian American community within the criminal justice system. According to its website, the AACTLA is the only organization of Asian American criminal defense attorneys in the country.
The AACTLA manages a variety of public service programs including professional development programs for attorneys, mentoring programs, and regular free legal clinics.
The AACTLA is an affiliate organization of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). The NAPABA is a national organization comprised of 40,000 attorneys and 67 state and local Asian Pacific American bar associations. The AACTLA is also an affiliate member of the Minority Bar Coalition (MBC) in the Bay Area.
