“Another Attempt at Sleight-of-Hand”: J&J Hoping Third Time's the Charm to Manipulate Bankruptcy Law
WASHINGTON, DC — The following is a statement from American Association for Justice CEO Linda Lipsen in response to Johnson & Johnson’s announcement today that the multibillion-dollar mega-corporation is making a third attempt to declare bankruptcy:
"Johnson & Johnson seems to be writing the book on how to benefit from legal loopholes and tricks, no matter the human cost, and today’s news is yet another attempt at sleight-of-hand. Since the mega-corporation’s previous bankruptcy gimmicks failed, this time they’re taking their manipulation of the law a step further. By now trying to slip in protections for three corporations – J&J, LLT Management LLC, and Kenvue Inc – Johnson & Johnson is making a play to evade accountability at every front. The American public will see this for what it is: a multibillion-dollar company using every legal maneuver available to escape being held responsible to the thousands of families whose lives have been forever altered."
